She held the delicate lily in her hand and twirled it around. The scent of it drifted on the wind into her nose. The smell of it reminded her of him. She could remember the night he came to see her. His sword resting on his side, his smile lighting up the dark. His hair, how it swept gently across his forehead. She smiled at the thought of him. Then, she remembered the night the guards came. She held the lily tighter in her hand. She could see them, all clearly in her mind now taking him away. All the horrible memories came back. All the pain she tried to hide for so long came back. She threw the lily down. Her eyes swelled with tears, and she remembered the night she tried to sneak through the dungeons to see him. She felt her heart pounding again, afraid the guards would catch her. She could feel the key she held tightly in her hand, tiptoeing silently trying not to be heard.  She would never see him again. And it hurt! It was a pain she had never felt before, a pain that she couldn’t describe. She picked up the lily and clenched it tight, pressing it against her chest and whispered, “I will never forget you.”
