Don't Forget Me....

Hey everyone! This short story just came out of me this morning and I thought I would share it with you all! I hope you all enjoy reading it and have a lovely day! :)

Something stirred in the wind, she whipped her head around quickly to see what it was. She saw nothing, nothing but darkness. She sighed nervously and looked to her right, still nothing but darkness. The forest felt cold, dark, and lifeless.

Her teeth chattered as a gust of cold wind blew by. She tucked her hands deep into the pockets of her jacket. She felt something rub against her fingers, a chill went up her back. What could be in her pocket? She didn't remember putting anything in there before she left.

She started to pull the thing out of her pocket slowly. Her hands trembled as she looked at it. In her hands she held a piece of paper. She opened it, her hands still trembling. In it she read in dark ink, Don't Forget Me!

There was only one person she knew who would leave that note. Her vision blurred with tears, and she whispered, "I will never forget you."

Prompt: This prompt centers around the theme of valuable lessons, especially that we have taken away from books. You might answer:
What is the coolest thing you have taken away from a book you have read? What sorts of things have your characters learned, as embedded in a story you have written? Or, what sort of message do you want to share with others, either in writing or through your own life?
